Making/editing a challenge

Create or edit challenges in the world control panel from the Challenges tab. The editor shows a live preview of how the challenge will look to players.

Other fields

Prerequisites (challenges that must be completed first), Difficulty, Timebomb (time-limited availability), Challenge file, Location, sponsor/company fields, and launchable/container options can also be configured. See Challenge optional fields and tips.

Type-specific answer setup

  • Flag - Add one or more exact accepted flags. Check case, braces, prefixes, and whitespace.
  • Multiple choice - Add the options and mark the correct one. Use clear distractors.
  • Conquest - Configure the target/check URL so the system can determine which team controls the target.
  • Text - Provide clear review criteria and a review email if submissions need organiser review.
  • File upload - Explain what file format or evidence players should upload, and configure review handling.

Visibility and release setup

  • Use Hidden when you want to prepare a challenge but keep it off the player map.
  • Use Prerequisites when another challenge must be solved first.
  • Use Timebomb when availability should start at a scheduled time and last for a limited duration.
  • Use Choice groups in progression when teams should choose only one path.

Accuracy checklist before saving

  • The challenge type matches the answer mechanism.
  • The answer or options are correct and tested.
  • The country/location does not overlap confusingly with another challenge.
  • The point value matches the intended difficulty.
  • Hints help without revealing the solution.
  • Files and links are accessible to participants.
  • Prerequisites and timebomb windows do not accidentally make the challenge impossible to reach.
  • Launchable challenges have a valid image/container reference and the organisation has enough launch runtime minutes for the expected number of instances.
  • The live preview matches what you expect players to see.
