Troubleshooting event access
If you cannot register, cannot join the right team, or cannot access the map after joining an event, start with the checks below.
Register button is missing or disabled
Check these first:
- Registration period - Registration may not have opened yet, or it may have closed.
- Sign-in state - Most events require you to be signed in before you can register.
- Access type - Invite-only and organisation-only events may not be available to everyone.
- Capacity - The event may have reached its user or team limit.
- Workshop flow - Some workshop worlds use a direct link rather than the normal registration flow.
If you think you should have access, contact the organiser and include the event name and the email address on your account.
Event access code vs team invite code
These codes do different jobs.
| Code | What it does |
|---|---|
| Event access code | Unlocks registration for an invite-only event when the organiser uses a shared join code. |
| Team invite code | Puts you into one specific team during team registration. |
Use them in different fields:
- Enter the event access code in the Event access field if the event asks for one. It proves you are allowed to register for the event, but it does not choose a team.
- Enter the team invite code after choosing Join an existing team in the team registration modal. It chooses the team you join, but it does not unlock an invite-only event by itself.
In an invite-only team event, you may need both. Ask the organiser or your teammate which code is which before you register.
I joined the wrong team
If you joined the wrong team, contact the organiser before the event starts if possible.
Do not create extra accounts to work around team membership. The organiser may need to advise whether you should re-register, join another team, or wait for a manual fix.
I registered but cannot access the map
Registration and map access are separate steps.
- The event period may not have started yet.
- The event may be more than 10 minutes from starting; countdown access can open shortly before the event starts.
- The event may have ended.
- The world may require you to finish registration, including team selection.
- Your account may not match the invite or organisation membership required by the event.
- The organiser may have changed access settings after you registered.
When access is available, use the event card or event page Access action to open the map or countdown surface.
I cannot join an organisation-only event
Organisation-only events require you to belong to the organiser's organisation. Ask the organiser to invite the email address you use for your Biterra account.
Joining a team is not the same as joining an organisation. A team invite code does not grant organisation membership.
I cannot join an invite-only event
Ask the organiser which access method they are using:
- A personal invite link.
- A shared event access code.
- A direct event link or QR code.
- Organisation membership.
If the event uses teams, also ask whether you should create a team or join an existing team with a team invite code.
